Let’s find a fix.

The keyboard won’t appear.

1. Open Inkboard. Use Enable to check that it is enabled in Android, then Choose to select it as the current keyboard. If the checklist is collapsed, tap Review setup.
2. Return to a notes or messaging app and tap an editable text field. A keyboard appears when the field has focus.
3. If a different keyboard appears, use Android’s keyboard picker to choose Inkboard again. The picker’s location varies by device.
4. If you have a physical keyboard connected, check Android’s physical-keyboard settings for the option to also show the on-screen keyboard.

Handwriting isn’t becoming text.

1. Tap Write, write in the handwriting area, then tap Read ink. Check the preview before choosing Insert.
2. On first use, connect to the internet and allow the handwriting language pack to finish downloading. Check Language → Writing language in Inkboard settings.
3. Try a short, clearly spaced line. If recognition misses a word, edit the preview before inserting it.
4. If your finger makes no mark while a stylus is in use, try the pen. Inkboard rejects finger and palm contact when stylus input is active.

On supported pen hardware, Low-latency stylus ink changes how the stroke is drawn, not how the words are recognised. If the fast-ink display misbehaves, try turning that setting off to use the standard renderer.

Speak isn’t listening.

1. Open Inkboard and use Allow in the setup checklist, or check its microphone permission in Android’s app settings.
2. Check that your device’s microphone access is enabled. Then tap Speak and try a short phrase.
3. Check your device’s configured speech-recognition service. Some devices need a compatible service installed or enabled; offline language support varies.
4. If offline dictation fails, try again with an internet connection. Review and correct the transcript before tapping Insert.

Want to pause between phrases? Look for Keep listening between phrases in Inkboard settings. You can still use Type and Write without microphone permission.

The suggestions don’t feel like me.

• Check the writing language. Choose the available language variant that matches your spelling.
• Correct the result you didn’t want. Repeated corrections and everyday use help build evidence for your vocabulary and preferences.
• Add an important word or phrase. Use the entry field under Personal dictionary in settings, then tap Add.
• Check the learned-word count. New or rarely used words may not appear there immediately because learning is deliberately cautious.
• For glide typing, check the alternatives. A low-confidence gesture may wait for you to choose a word. Your swipe path still matters; personal context helps rank candidates rather than replacing the gesture.
