A few common questions.
Do I need an AI account to use Inkboard?
No. Typing, glide typing, handwriting recognition and personal learning do not need an AI API key. Optional AI writing tools are separate and use the provider you configure. Voice input uses your device’s speech service.
Does Inkboard work without an internet connection?
Typing, glide decoding and personal learning run on your device. Handwriting recognition also works offline after its language pack has downloaded. Dictation depends on your configured Android speech service and its offline support. Optional AI writing tools need a connection.
Why doesn’t it know my words straight away?
It begins with general language knowledge, not your personal vocabulary. Repeated words, accepted suggestions and corrections give it evidence about your writing. New words are learned cautiously so a single typo is less likely to stick.
How do I switch back to another keyboard?
Tap the globe on Inkboard’s action bar to switch to the next enabled keyboard. Hold it to open Android’s keyboard picker and choose one yourself. On narrower screens, check More for additional tools.
Where are Inkboard’s settings?
Open the Inkboard app, or tap the sliders/settings control on the keyboard’s action bar. On a narrow screen, it may be under More. You can change the writing language, appearance and personal dictionary there.
Can I clear what the keyboard has learned?
Yes. In settings, go to Personal dictionary and choose Clear everything Inkboard has learned. This removes learned words and saved phrases and cannot be undone. The keyboard starts learning again from scratch.

In the Android app, open settings and choose About Inkboard. You’ll find the app version, technology credits and Open-source licences, including links to the relevant projects.
